A Chin Implant can change your profile

A chin implant is an excellent procedure for those wishing to add projection to their chin. In addition, it is very helpful to use in combination with neck liposuction for those who wish to change their profile.

How is a chin implant performed?

Dr Szalay performs the procedure under a general anaesthetic in a day hospital.  He makes a small incision beneath the chin and inserts the implant after preparing the deep tissue. The whole procedure takes around one hour.

How long does a chin implant last?

The implant is made of silicone and is therefore permanent.

More information on a chin implant is available here

Cost

The cost is from $7700 (this includes the hospital and anaesthetist cost).

How long is the recovery period for a chin implant?

Following the procedure we may fit you with a bandage or head garment which you wear for one  day. It is important for you to have someone to pick you up following the surgery and they will need to stay with you that night.

Some pain will occur so we give you a script for pain medication.

Bruising and swelling is likely and typically settles over 10 days. You may have some difficult using the lower lip and this also typically improves over 10 days.

We remove your sutures after 7 days and you should be able to return to work at the 10 day mark.

Dr Szalay will discuss what to expect during your recovery as part of your consultation and we will provide you with detailed pre and post operative instructions.

A detailed list of pre and post operative instructions is here.
